Millenium Tarot
Dublin Core
Title
Millenium Tarot
Subject
Art, Renaissance
Description
78 cards plus a title card and an informational card, accompanied by a 96 page booklet. Housed in a glossy cardboard tuck box, and also came with a sheer, gold, organza drawstring bag.
The cards measure 12.1 cm tall x 7 cm wide.
The cards have sharp, square corners and a high gloss coating. The stock is inflexible and would not be easy to shuffle.
According to the information with the deck, the major arcana were begun in 1994, the minor arcana were finished in 2002, and finally the book was written and the set was published in 2004.
Interestingly, the box bears the date of 1994, which may be referring to the copyright date of the majors, as it certainly doesn't reflect the publication date of this edition.
The backs are almost but not quite reversible.
Justice is 8 and Strength is 11.
Suits are Swords, Pentacles, Wands, and Cups. Courts are Page, Knight, Queen, and King.
The minors border on being what I would call plain pips. Perhaps decorated pips is a more accurate description. But they are by no means scenic, nor are they are elegantly illustrated as what you would find in a Marseille style deck. Even the Majors of the Millennium tarot contain very little "scenic" detail.
I confess, this ranks amongst my least favorite decks.
