Title
Deviant Moon Tarot
Subject
Melancholy
Urban and industrial decay
Description
78 cards + an LWB + a title card and an artist's "about" card, with an excess of packaging. By "excess" I mean that the cards themselves are in a tuckbox, and the tuckbox is in a larger 2-part, sliding shelfbox along with a fold-out paper spread guide. The packaging provides more shelf-appeal and makes it look as if the buyer is getting a "set," when in truth the only item of (neglible) added value is the fold-out guide.
The cards measure 7.1 cm wide x 13.1 cm long. The card stock is very flexible, with a high-gloss varnish that tends towards stickiness.
This deck is an example of the USG decks that were printed in Italy during the 2000's. These Italian-printed decks are difficult to use due to their high-gloss coating, making the cards prone to sticking together. Fanning power, available from magician's supply shops (or from Amazon, like everything else), can be very helpful in eliminating the stickiness.
The card back design is reversible.
Justice is VIII and Strength is XI. The Fool is numbered 0.
Suits are Wands, Swords, Cups, and Pentacles. The court cards are Page, Knight, Queen, and King.
The minor arcana are scenic in the RWS style.
Matters of physical production aside, this is a delightfully odd, weird, and readable deck. Some of the scenes are jolting, but in a way that works.
