Description
78 cards plus an informational card and a LWB in a 2 pc heavy cardboard lidded box, which is still housed in the original white cardboard outer box.
Cards are oversized, measuring 14.7 cm tall x 8.4 cm wide.
The cardstock is very sturdy and has a lightly glossy finish. The cards have square corners. This is not a deck intended to be shuffled.
The backs are reversible.
This deck is a modern, artistic take on a TdM style deck. It's illustrated, but not scenic -- even the majors don't feature people.
The LWB and card titles are in French. An interesting thing about the numbering of the major arcana is that La Force (Strength) has no number. La Justice is 8 and L'Hermite is 11.
Suits are d'Epee, Baton, Coupe, and Deniers. Courts are Valet, Cavalier, Reine, and Roi.
Further note, originally posted by Gregory on the Aeclectic Tarot forums on March 2, 2006:
"Designs by Louttre B - pseudonym for Marc Bissière. Produced in co-operation with the Musée des Arts Décoratifs, on the opening of an exhibition of playing cards in Paris. Some cards oddly numbered (VI serves for both the Emperor and the Lovers). No human figures; symbolic objects drawn from Marseilles tarot used instead, reducing symbols to bare essentials. Impressionistic style, with deliberately rough appearance."
