Old English Tarot

Dublin Core

Title

Old English Tarot

Subject

Renaissance, Medieval

Description

78 cards plus a title card and informational card, with a LWB in a standard cardboard tuck box that is just a bit too snug to easily fit the deck and LWB.

Cards measure 12 cm tall x 7 cm wide.

The card stock is flexible, with a smooth matte finish -- very easy to handle and shuffle.

Card backs are reversible.

The deck shows some influence from TdM and RWS style decks -- the majors are TdM in look and feel, while the minors have small scenes that evoke typical RWS meanings.

That is, except for the suit of Cups, in which the minors have small musical scenes that seem (to me, at least) not to evoke anything.

The minors are what I would classify as illustrated or perhaps semi-scenic -- arrangements of suit symbols are featured prominently, while small mini-scenes are typically at the bottom of the cards.

Strength is 8 and Justice is 11. The Fool is numbered as 0.

Suits are Swords, Batons, Cups, and Coins. Courts are Knave, Kinght, Queen, and King.
