Sepia Stains Tarot
Dublin Core
Title
Sepia Stains Tarot
Subject
Gothic, Steampunk, Digital Art
Description
78 cards packaged in a black paper bag, accompanied by a small brown paper folder with inclusions (an artist-signed thank you card, a silver and black mini photographic print, and 3 spare cards -- the Sun, Chariot, and Moon). Did not come with an LWB or other instructions.
Cards are 12.7 cm tall x 7.6 cm wide.
The art is a mixture of digitally-modified photography and digital illustrations. The theme and overall "feel" of the deck is very steampunk / gothic / feminine. Only 2 cards feature men.
The minors are illustrated but not scenic; rather, they are artfully arranged pips. Even the major arcana are quite spare in look and feel, focusing primarily on single figures, and lacking in symbolism.
Strength is 8 and Justice is 11.
Suits are Coins, Swords, Chalices, and Wands. Courts are Page, Knight, Queen, and King.
Backs are non-reversible.
I purchased this copy on June 11, 2010 for $71 USD from the artist's Etsy store. Copies are still being listed for sale in 2011, for $70 USD.
There was discussion on the internet regarding this deck's publication as early as 2009; however, it appears that it was not actually available until early 2010 (according to information found on the Tarot Collector's Forum).
