Description
78 cards plus a signed and numbered title card, packaged with a LWB in a highly unusual cardboard box. My copy was also accompanied by an ACEO sized extra card, signed by the artist (both sides of the card are pictured above).
Cards are 6.1 cm tall x 4.5 cm wide -- very much a miniature deck. It would be nearly impossible to shuffle these cards.
This deck is now OOP, and was a limited and numbered edition. My copy is signed and numbered by the artist -- I have number 30 out of 50.
The card stock is along the lines of what you could buy at an office supply store; heavy blue stock with marbled backs. Not coated or laminated. The corners are square.
The backs could be considered reversible, though there is variation in the marbled pattern.
All cards in this deck feature one or more penguins. Actually, the Death card features the skull of a penguin, if you want to get technical about it. No human figures appear in the deck.
I consider this to be a fully scenic deck in the RWS tradition, though it's not strictly RWS and because of the mini size, the scenes are somewhat sparse and the symbolism is minimal. This is more of an art deck than a reading deck.
The Fool card is numbered 0. Strength is 8 and Justice is 11.
Suits are Sticks (Wands), Shells (Cups), Feathers (Swords), and Stones (Pentacles). Though all suits share the same blue card stock borders, the primary background color of the suits varies somewhat.
Sticks are primarily orange, Shells and Feathers are primarily blue, and Stones are primarily green.
Courts are Chick, Fledgling, Mother, and Father.
The yellow and white striped box that contains the cards was packed flat when shipped, but folded into a rather unique square shape that is considerably oversized for the cards. It's delicate and not at all a practical container, but I appreciate the creativity and thought behind it. In short, it's cool.
