Description

This is a large, heavy boxed set consisting of the following:
  • The deck: 78 cards + a title card + an "about" card
  • A standard LWB
  • A standard cardboard tuck box that holds the cards and LWB
  • A large, softcover 161 page guide book written by the artist, Kris Waldherr
  • A scroll printed on very nice, coated paper, tied with a red ribbon, providing a visual guide for multiple spread layouts
  • A large, sturdy, heavy cardboard outer box, containing all the parts of the set. The set box is one piece, with a hinged lid and velcro closure.
The cards are slightly larger and squarer than average, measuring just slightly over 3.5" wide x 4.75" long.

The card stock is somewhat stiff, with a matte finish. Given the stiffness, size, and shape of the cards, shuffling may be limited to a gentle hand-over-hand method.

Many, though not all, of the major arcana have been retitled in keeping with the deck's theme. Strength is VIII and Justice is XI. Innocence (The Fool) is numbered 0.

Suits are Coins, Arrows, Staves, and Cups. The court cards are Princess, Prince, Queen, and King.

The minor arcana are scenic in the RWS style.

The card back design is fully reversible.

This is a beautiful deck and a truly stunning set, but it strikes me as distinctly consumer-oriented. In other words, this isn't meant to be a card reader's working deck. It's more for someone who wants to do love-based readings for themselves and perhaps their friends, and who probably lacks deep familiarity with the tarot (hence the LWB and the book and the scroll providing reading guidance).
