Title
Santa Muerte Tarot
Subject
Santa Muerte
Description
78 cards + a title card + 128-page multi-lingual instructional booklet, housed in a sturdy, two-part lidded box. The box is upright, the sort where you pull the lid off the top and the cards and booklet are standing upright inside. This style of box is wonderful for shelf storage.
The cards measure 12 cm tall x 7 cm wide. The card stock is lightly glossy, with a smooth, yet very slightly textured finish. The cards are flexible, but something about the card stock doesn't feel quite as flexible and durable as the older-style Lo Scarabeo decks.
The card backs are reversible.
Strength is VIII and Justice is XI. The Fool is numbered 0. Card XIII (Death) is titled Santa Muerte, in keeping with the deck's theme.
Suits are Chalices, Pentacles, Wands, and Swords. The court cards are Page, Knight, Queen, and King.
The minor arcana are scenic and primarily follow the RWS tradtion.
I appreciate the unique border design and title layout of these cards; the half-borders are non-distracting, and my eyes can easily find the card titles, but nothing takes away from the art itself.
The booklet with this deck is nicer (and more useful) than most. I didn't attach a scan of its cover to this record, though, since the cover art of the booklet is the same as that of the title card.
I purchased my copy from Amazon.com in January 2018. A number of customer reviews mention duplicated and/or missing cards, but upon double-checking my copy, I found no problems--it is complete.
