Gustave Doré Bible Tarot
Gustave Doré, Art, Bible
78 cards in a standard cardboard tuck box that is too large for the deck, and thus dents in very easily. The deck did not come with an LWB or book.
Cards are 13.1 cm tall x 9.1 cm wide -- oversized, but still easy enough to handle.
Backs are not quite fully reversible, but you'd have to be paying close attention to notice the difference between upright and reversed.
The card stock has a shiny laminate coating.
The art is black and white, and consists entirely of the Biblical illustrations of Gustave Doré (1832-1883), carefully chosen to "fit" within the general concept of each tarot card. This is very much an art deck; I cannot personally imagine reading with this deck.
Strength is 8 and Justice is 11. The Fool is numbered 0.
Suits are Wands, Cups, Swords, and Pentacles. Courts are Page, Knight, Queen, and King.
In addition to their tarot numbers and titles, each card also bears a subtitle conveying the Biblical scene, person, or concept portrayed in the art.
Published in the Czech Republic. Price is 40,00 EUR.

78 cards packaged as part of a set. The set includes a 168 page soft cover companion book, an inner tuck box for the cards, an LWB, a small spread cloth (plain black), and an outer two-part lidded set box made of very sturdy cardboard.
None of these photos are to scale, by the way -- for instance, the scans of the book cover are larger than those of the set box, but actually all the various parts of the set fit quite neatly into the set box.
Cards measure 10.5 cm tall x 7.1 cm wide.
The card stock is incredibly nice -- it's wonderful to touch and handle. Velvet smooth and super flexible, with a matte finish.
The card backs are utterly non-reversible, featuring a big drawing of Granny Jones with her cat.
Suits are Buttons, Wands, Swords, and Cups. The Courts are Page, Knight, Queen, and King.
Justice is 8 and Strength is 11. The Fool is numbered 0.
The minor arcana are fully scenic . . . as well as quirky, original, and colorful.
According to the retail price sticker on the back of my set box, this set originally sold for $29.95 (when distributed in the United States, anyway). The price sticker indicates it was distributed stateside by Seven Hills Book Distribution in Cincinnati, OH.

Golden Age of Horror Tarot
Horror comics -- 20th century
78 cards in a generic white cardboard tuck box with a see-through panel on the front. No title card. A printed slip of paper containing a note of thanks was included with the package.<br /><br />The cards measure 12 cm tall x 7 cm wide.<br /><br />The cardstock is very flexible, with a smooth matte finish.<br /><br />Strength is 8 and Justice is 11. The Fool is numbered 0.<br /><br />Suits are Wands, Pentacles, Swords, and Cups. Court cards are Page, Knight, Queen, and King.<br /><br />The card backs are non-reversible.<br /><br />Unfortunately, the digital collage art seems to have been stretched out of proportion, perhaps during the layout and printing process. The art is already quite busy; the distortion renders the deck unreadable for me.<br /><br />This deck was originally marketed and funded via Kickstarter. I was a backer of the campaign at the $28 level (for one copy of the deck). The deck is currently offered for sale in the creator's Etsy shop.

78 cards + a title card and an advertising card + an LWB in a standard cardboard tuck box.<br /><br /><span>Cards measure 12 cm tall x 6.6 cm wide. The card stock is very flexible, with a matte finish and extensive gold foil stamping. This deck could easily be riffle-shuffled.<br /><br />The card back design is reversible.<br /><br />Each card is aligned with a figure or event from Eastern Orthodox Christianity and Biblical history. Justice is VIII depicts the Archangel Michael. Strength is XI and depicts Saint George and the dragon. The court cards are Knave, Knight, Queen, and King.<br /><br />The minor arcana are scenic, and loosely follow the RWS tradition. However, the scenes are limited to a small area in the center of each card, with arrangements of suit symbols around the central vingette. <br /><br />The gold foil embellishment on these cards is beautiful, but it overwhelms the art at times. I wish more space had been alotted to the art.<br /></span>

Gummy Bear Tarot (in a tin)

78 cards plus a LWB in a 2 piece lidded tin container.
Cards are slightly smaller than average, measuring 9.5 cm tall x 6.1 cm wide.
The card stock is flexible, with a matte finish.
Card backs are reversible.
This deck is essentially a RWS clone with a colorful, lighthearted gummy bear theme. The minors are fully scenic.
Strength is 8, Justice is 11, and the Fool is numbered 0.
Suits are Cups, Wands, Pentacles, and Swords. Courts are Page, Knight, Queen, and King.

78 cards plus a 288 page softcover companion book, packaged together as a set in a large format cardboard shelf box.
As is common with Llewellyn's boxed sets, the inner box for the cards is plain white cardboard, and considerably oversized.
The cards measure 11.7 cm tall x 8.1 cm wide.
The card stock is flexible, with a smooth, matte finish.
Card backs are reversible.
Strength is 8 and Justice is 11. The Seeker (aka The Fool) is numbered 0. Some, but not all, of the major arcana are renamed.
The minor arcana are fully scenic, and occasionally evoke RWS style meanings (for example, the 9 of Air definitely suggests "nightmares" to me).
Suits are Air, Fire, Water, and Earth. Courts are Child, Explorer, Guardian, and Elder.
The companion book is thorough and helpful, but is unillustrated. This strikes me as a clear indicator that it is intended strictly as a companion book as part of a set, and not a book designed for independent sale.
The title page of the book indicates that it is part of the first printing of the first edition, in 2011. The ISBN given in the book is the same as that given on the set box -- yet another indication that the book is not designed for sale separately.
Retails for $28.95 USD, though I purchased my copy through Amazon for a discounted price.

Golden Tarot
78 cards + a 64 page guide booklet in a small, sturdy 2-part cardboard set box.<br /><br />The cards measure 8.1 cm wide x 13.1 cm long. The cardstock is thin and flexible, with a glossy finish that is smooth on the card backs and very slightly textured on the card fronts.<br /><br />The card back design is fully reversible.<br /><br />Justice is VIII and Strength is XI. The Fool is numbered 0.<br /><br />Suits are Cups, Wands, Swords, and Pentacles. The court cards are Page, Knight, Queen, and King.<br /><br />The minor arcana cards are just pips. <br /><br />As gift shop tarots go, this is pretty close to the bottom. The book is perfunctory, and the minor arcana cards are disappointingly plain and uninspired. The majors are pretty, but not strong enough for me to recommend this set.

One of the reasons I chose to scan the Queen of Swords from each deck is that it's often an "ordinary" card -- not typically something a reviewer would feature as particularly striking. But this Queen is, literally and figuratively, taking heads.

78 cards + 17 "bonus" cards in a sturdy cardboard set box with a softcover companion book. The box lid is hinged with a magnetic closure. <br /><br />Cards measure 14.9 cm tall x 10.4 cm wide. <br /><br />The card stock is smooth and flexible, with a lightly glossy surface. As stated on the deck's <a href="https://theelgoliathtarotdeck.com/pages/faq" target="_blank" title="FAQ page" rel="noreferrer noopener">FAQ page</a>, "The cards are made with highly-durable 300 GSM card stock, coated with a protective UV film and finished with gold-gilding on the sides." <br /><br />The art is black and white (though the backs are in color). Some cards have black borders and others have white borders. According to the deck's <a href="https://theelgoliathtarotdeck.com/pages/faq" target="_blank" title="FAQ page" rel="noreferrer noopener">FAQ page</a>, "<span>The art work was drawn by hand from real-life references, using grey lead pencil on A3 or A1 size paper."</span><br /><br />The card backs are <em>almost</em> fully reversible, but you could discern the difference if you looked closely.<br /><br />Strength is XI and Justice is VIII. The Fool is numbered 0.<br /><br />Suits are Cups, Wands, Pentacles, and Swords. Court cards are Page, Knight, Queen, and King.<br /><br />The minor arcana are fully scenic. Though the guidebook states that the deck is based on the Rider-Waite-Smith, the minors often diverge significantly from the RWS images.<br /><br />Seventeen bonus cards are included in addition to the usual 78 cards.<br /><br />This deck looks amazing online, but is truly exquisite in person -- the artwork is unique and captivating. It's as if the animals are looking the viewer right in the eye; it feels as if they truly <em>see</em> you. <br /><br />I purchased my copy through Amazon.com on October 18, 2019.
