Golden Romanian Tarot
Dublin Core
Title
Golden Romanian Tarot
Subject
Rider-Waite-Smith clone
Description
78 cards. No box, no title card, and no LWB. A Romanian-language companion book was available, but I didn't purchase it.
I'm unable to unearth any information regarding the publisher or the artist. This deck is said to have only been available for sale in Romania (I purchased my copy through someone who was offering a handful of copies for sale in the Aeclectic Tarot trading forum).
I have not yet found anything regarding the year of publication, though I will say that the look and feel of the card stock makes me believe it was published in the last 10 years.
The cards measure 11.8 cm tall x 6.8 cm wide.
The card stock is extremely flexible, with a smooth, mostly matte finish on the front, and a smooth, glossy finish on the back.
The card backs are gold, with no pattern, and are reversible.
The card numbering and suits are all in keeping with the traditional RWS.
Card titles are in Romanian.
This deck is a RWS clone, though there are some variances from and additions to the original art (this is a redrawing with some creative liberties taken, in other words).
I paid 34 Euro for my copy, which included shipping, in March 2013.
Additional snippet of information, posted by Niclas on the Aeclectic Tarot Forum on March 13, 2013:
"The site of the main distributor for this deck, whom I have used in the past, does not exist anymore. The printing house that published the book that goes with the cards, and presumably the cards themselves, does not list it anymore on their website. Even though there are webshops that still offer the deck amongst the items in their catalogue, catering not to the international, but to the Romanian public, I do have the impression that this deck is OOP now."
